Who is The Man in the HOLE?

Welcome. The Man in the HOLE was named Raymond Keith Kehlet. He was a father, a son, and a brother. He would still be all of those things as well as now a grandfather, had fate not dealt a cruel hand.

Ray and his wife Jennie went missing while prospecting near Sandstone Western Australia back in 2015. Ray was later found down a mineshaft. Jennie has never been found.

If you have followed the case you will know that the Coroner released her findings in May 2021 that ultimately concluded that Ray was murdered, and likely also his wife, Jennie. This, we the family, knew from the beginning.

I am Ray Kehlet’s youngest brother. Writing about Ray's death has proven cathartic in previous years. And writing about the investigation over the following eight (and counting) years since the event will, with all good intentions, hold to account what happened to he and Jennie.

The Man in the HOLE is the title of this ‘progressive memoir’. This substack newsletter should be considered a bookmark, for the purposes of updating you when new details emerge. I will upload excerpts, updates and the like as the investigation develops.

There are a few posts on here to sink your teeth into. Please subscribe to receive further updates.

Cheers,

Dave Kehlet
