I reckon that the suspect, pushed Ray down the shaft, then went to get Jennie for help, stating he had accidentally fallen in. So he abseiled down the shaft with Jennie up top for support ( therefore cigarette buts) once down found he was still alive so he strangled him and dragged the body out of sight. After he came out I'm sure something happened between him and Jennie and he has disposed if her body in another mine shaft. Now my husbands theory as to which one and why.

.....

Black Range West 3 is a 'shut' mineshaft on the opposite side of Paynes Find-Sandstone Rd. (I am only looking at that shaft on Trilobite so I don't know if it is 'open'). But it would make sense to chose a shaft on the opposite side of the road, out of the search area. That particular shaft is easily accessed by a vehicle on a good track. Hence, no need to carry a body if you can drive right up to it. The fact that he didn't get mobile until 2am means he could have spent some time throwing dirt down the shaft to hide body and evidence.

I found it interesting that in tonight's episode of spotlight on 7 , the main suspect mentions seeing a car at the top of the hill and I think he said it was a prado???? And now he's driving one himself??? I mean most people have a dream or an idea of a car they'd love to own one day and why wouldn't he name a make of a car he doesn't own but wants to one day.

As for the cigarettes, my thought is Jennie was waiting at the top of the shaft for her husband to let her know it was safe for her to climb down or for him to return to the top. Instead the suspect had knocked her husband unconscious, killed him and came out to Jennie saying he's died and also had this crazy idea he and Jennie could now be together. She ran off to get help after rejecting him , he chased her down and killed her because she is the only one who can tell the real story.

Unbelievable that the person they went with isn’t charged, you don’t have to be sleuth good luck getting him charged. Maybe someone different needs to look at this as a cold case
